Val Decker
Val's latest series - "The Electric Garden" is based on his digital photographs and scans of flowers and other plant life that he has manipulated in the computer to produce unusual results. In one case, the microcosm of a very small orchid spray becomes a group of dancers; in another, the center of a flower becomes the essence of exploding life.
After spending a number of years doing "traditional" photography, Val turned to digital photography and feels that this has set his imagination free in ways that the older methods did not allow. Innovative uses of the digital scanner have also broadened the world of possibilities.
